Answers: There is not really birth control i.e. effective straight away. unless I suppose you consider the condom!
The pill takes 14 days from the first pill (starting on the sugar pills) since it is recommended to be considered safe (technically a week if you skip the sugar!), its pretty much the same for everything.
I be one of the very unlucky people who but on alot of bulk when I started the pil (7kgs!) but most people, if any, only put on 2-3 kgs which you wouldnt even mind!
Unless you are ina serious relationship, willing to have kids and know neither of you own an STD, you should still always wear a condom during intercourse just to be doubly sure! =) (you could onky predict how horrible it would be to get an STD!!.
If you mean by potent, does it prevent pregnancy right away, the answer is no. You need to use a secondary form of contraception for the first month.
Regarding mass gain - doctors are mixed on this one. There have been studies done that show no correlation between b/c and solidity gain, but tell that to the millions of women who gain weight as soon as they shift on b/c! I think it depends on the type of birth control. Those with a complex hormone level (the most traditional) are linked to cargo gain - which makes sense when you consider how much weight you gain around your interval, when your hormones are flush! If possible, ask your doc for a low-estrogen b/c.
Regarding YAZ, I take its big sister, Yasmin, and never gained freight on it - in fact, I lost a few pounds the first time 'round. It's a low-hormone b/c that have worked quite well for me.

For how long it take, I have been told Birth control is completly powerful after three months of taking it. However, it depends on the brand. I have NEVER gained consignment from taking it, but I do now of a few cases where population have gained consignment. Than again, it is not like the pill is going to make you gain ten pounds alone, profusely of it does have to deal next to what you eat, and your diet.
I have not taken Yaz myself, but I hear that it is simply like any other kind of pill. The first few weeks you might grain sick to your stomach and tired, but that is normal and go away after a few weeks It is suposed to be effective right away but most girls I know waited nearly a month...and I've been on Tri Cyclen for over 2 years and haven't gained a pound : )...but I guess some girls might, if you do they can probably switch you to a different type of pill or something, but not a soul I know of has gained any consignment on the pill. You will however gain weight if you get pregnant ; )...and no, I've never used Yaz..

Im on yaz now and i love it..i actually lost alil weightiness with being on it..it help me big time with the moodiness and cramping...but its not effective to in recent times use the pill if your going to have sex!! i think it take like a week? but idk... i didnt gain weight while i be on it i dont think i just feel a little bloated..
Your doctor will tell you when to start taking it. Some culture gain weight while others don't. with mine i have to be taking it for 7 days before it started to work and not get pregnant. i didn't gain any counterbalance. .
birth control is not effective right away and it will make u gain weightiness
