Please Help! First Gyno Visit!?

I have an appt. to see the gyno next week and I am really twitchy! I am 22 and I haven't had my period surrounded by over a year. I am really obese and I have heard it is difficult to execute a pap smear on obese women and I am embarrassed enough a moment ago having to go! I be wondering if there were any other women that enjoy been in my situation that could conceivably ease my mind about going. Does anyone know why I would not own a period for over a year!? Please no mean answers!

I enjoy HPV...19 years old-fashioned.?

When you for your first gynaecological examination/visit, you may hold a few examinations done, which may include the following:

A pelvic exam is a way for your gynaecologist to examine your female organs and check for any gynaecological problems.

You may be worried around your first pelvic exam. It's very normal to agonize about something when you don't know what to expect. Hopefully after reading this, you will be reassured that it is simple, isn't rough and the actual pelvic exam takes only around 5 minutes. It is also normal to feel anxious or uneasy about your first exam, I still feel dismayed with mine and I've had may frequent pelvic examinations over the past 10 years due to female related problems I'm experiencing.

However, if you know what to expect, it may backing you relax. I'm sure your gyno understands how you feel and will be sensitive and peaceable, and answer any questions you may have.

There are other noteworthy reasons to have a pelvic exam. These may include:

- Unexplained headache in your lower belly or around the pelvic area, where on earth your vagina is;
- Vaginal discharge or wetness on your underwear that causes itching, burning or smells bad;
- No menstrual period by age 15 or 16;
- Vaginal bleeding that lasts more than 10 days;
- Missed periods; especially if you are have sex;
- Menstrual cramps so bad that you miss school or work.

During your first check up your gyno will ask you question about:

- Your general strength, allergies and medications you are taking;
- Your menstrual period, such as how weak you were when you first got it, how long it last, how often it comes, how much you bleed , the first day that your later period started, if you have cramps; and at what age your breasts started to develop.
- Whether you enjoy ever had sex or have be sexually abused.
- If you have vaginal itchiness or an unusual discharge or odor from your vagina.

If you find it comforting your partner or a friend can go next to you for support, bear in mind that they don't own to be present in the room when you are having the pelvic nouns done. After you have given your medical history, been weigh and had your blood pressure checked, you will be asked to put on a gown. You will need to remove your clothes including your underwear and bra. A breast exam is recurrently done as a routine part of this check-up.

Your gyno will explain the steps to the exam and ask you to lie down on the exam table. You will be given a sheet to put over your stomach and legs. You will next be asked to move down to the end of the table and place your feet surrounded by stirrups (these are holders for your feet). With your knees bent, you will be asked to let your knees fall to respectively side allowing your legs to spread apart. This is usually the part when most women feel mortified. This feeling is normal too. Just remember that although this is your first exam, this is routine for your gyno and their just concern is for your health.

There are 3 parts to this exam. Sometimes not all parts of the pelvic exam are obligatory. Ask your gyno which part or parts will be done for your examination.

Your gyno will first look at the nouns outside of your vagina, (clitoris, labia, vaginal opening, and rectum).

Now some information about the papsmear. The speculum is an instrument made of metal or plastic. Your gyno will place the speculum into your vagina. After it is inserted, it will be placidly opened so that your gyno can see your vagina and your cervix (the opening to your uterus).

After checking your vagina and cervix, your gyno may pilfer a thin plastic stick and a special tiny brush or a small "broom" and gently wipe away some of the cell from your cervix. This is a pap smear, which detects early changes of the cervix back they become cancer. Most girls have normal pap smears.

If you are have vaginal discharge, your gyno will take another sample to check for a possible yeast infection and other cause of discharge. If you are having sex, your gyno will take another taste from the cervix to check for sexually transmitted diseases. When all of these samples own been taken, your doctor will close the speculum and gently embezzle it out.

When the exam is over, your gyno will answer any questions you have and detail you when to make your next appointment. He/she will also bargain to you about any medications you may involve and tell you when and how you will get the results of the exam.

I hope this information help you out. Best of luck and remember to try to relax. If at any time during your examination, you feel discomfited or anything causes pain, you own the right to stop your gyno and let him/her know.

Good luck. :)

6w2d pregnant, bleeding?

Your doctor will best be able to detail you why you have not had your spell - there are many possible reason.

It is very good that you are taking this step for your form - I know it's hard.

It is not necessarily hard for them to take a pap smear on a larger woman, but being tense will trademark it less comfortable. For some individuals it is a bigger deal than others, and that is to say just the person. It will still not be that discouraging. Have you had a throat culture for strept or anything? It makes you want to gag. It's a similar awareness, though it lasts a little longer (< a minute for the annoying constituent, not very long for the examination), maybe a bit more so, and evidently in another location. The best thing you can do is to be silence and as confident as you can muster being. It won't be bad if you don't guess it will be.

Tell the doctor that you have never been. They should consult with you before the nouns and answer any questions you have, to label you comfortable before hand. Go to a place that you discern you will be comfortable at - it's no shame to be a little choosey. Most understand that you may want a dedicated gender of doctor for this sort of appointment as well - they will not be surprised if you ask past deciding whether to make an appointment. It's a remarkably personal thing.

Take charge of your health, trade name the appointment, and ask EVERY question you want to make yourself comfortable. Don't be afraid of asking anything - they've hear it ALL, and it is far better to ask.

Soft breasts?

With the pap smear, all they do is take a indication of cells from your cervix which is pretty easy to do. The problem can take place when they go to try and feel the uterus and ovaries and they may own to push down a bit harder to try and feel them.

As for why you have not have a period in over a year it can penny-pinching that you may have a hormone imbalance going on such as beside your thyroid (an example only).

I would recommend letting the office know that before any exams are done that you would close to to talk to the doctor in plainclothes first. This will help out to make it less mortifying as well.

If you have other question for me please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

Period !!?

Your iron height could be low. That could be one of the reasons why you haven't had it. Unless you are over 300 or over, within should be no reason to worry something like your weight interfering with the exam. Don't be in motion by what others tell you. You will be taken to the exam room. There the nurse gives you a gown to transmutation into. She also gives you a sheet. You remove your clothing put on the gown sit on the exam table and put the sheet on over your lower half. There is no plea to worry. I always look at it from the point of landscape that it's an exam like any other. I don't bother dwelling on thoughts like what must she/he guess. Look at it as they are doctors and nurses and do this for a living. They see people's privates all the time. To them it's just another lenient like any other. The exam part is over since you know it. It doesn't take long. I had my first gyno exam at 20. I be about 5 months pregnant.
