My mom have a breast ultrasound, findings be that she have small cystic nodules surrounded by both breasts. explain pls?
Answers: Nodules are similar to little lumps. Since they refer to them as cystic nodules I wouldn't be too worried. Cysts in the breast occur adjectives the time as the breast is a series of ducts (meant to carry milk for babies) and they can get clogged and grounds cysts occasionally.
Sometimes the cysts can calcify and appear hard, and perhaps they can "fluffy up" under an x-ray the same as any cancerous tumour might, but unless they biopsy you can't give an account if it's benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
Most times these things are nothing, but since breast cancer is so high, they won't want to bring a chance if they are suspicious and they would biopsy it. No point being concerned until you gain the results. It's a lot of worry for nil most times. They may even say it's nothing and shame it until the next mammo and see if there is any move or if they are gone.
Awww please relax... your mum is okay.
Benign breast disease is very common and the major cause of nodules. They can stem from cyst formation in obstructed and dilated lactiferous ducts, hypertrophy or tumor formation contained by the ductal system, inflammation, or infection.
If you do a yahoo search on Benign breast disease... you should find all the information you call for..
hope this helps...
