Is it locked to do this??
Answers: the reason they recommend you don't smoke whilst on BC pill is because both of these increase the risk of blood clots, and can increase blood pressure as well.
On their own, BCs aren't as risky. It would be better if you told your doctor you are smoking so that they can explain the risks to you, and you can settle on for yourself if it is worth the risk to keep doing both..
There is some debate on the smoking slowly making the oral birthcontorl less significant but no hard facts as of yet. What is agreed is that smoking while on oral birth control can increase your chance of heart problems. This is hinged on a few factors such as the dosage of the hormon within the pill, your age and how much you smoke. I don't have to tell you something like the health risks on smoking alone.
its ok to tell your doctor you smoke. the most they can really read aloud is "have you thought about quitting?" and you a short time ago say "no" and they have to close it. If youir doctor knows you smoke then he will be capable of help you choose the right BC for you. What kind of BC are you getting? an IUD or the Depo shot are really correct for smokers with hardly any side affect, in good health, more with the depo, like cargo gain. ICK. otherwise, smoking shouldnt be a big deal on BC unless you already have a heart condition or are elder..
You should ALWAYS be upfront with your doctor about the smoking. Yes, they may tablecloth on you a bit but they really need to know for some things. "If you can't take the steam, stay out of the fire." Smoking while on the pill does increas the risk for certain thinks, similar to a heart attack. However, in most cases the doctor will still tell you that you can do it as long as you infer that there is an increased risk and it isn't a good theory. No. It's NOT safe.
You're better off using a non-hormonal birth control if you smoke. Otherwise you risk have a cardiac event. All of the pill literature warns of that.
It doesn't matter what age you are. You'll hold the same side effects..
Be honest with your doctor just about smoking. So what if you have to listen to a lecture? You entail to be honest with them to get the attention you need. There are other forms of Birth control besides the pill. Please tell your doc because he/she know the best! We don't know your weight, blood pressure levels, etc, etc. In establish to give a fair assessment, we necessitate to know that.
So, tell your doctor..
