Answers: No, I don't think birth control can cause soreness close to that.
More than likely, if you're sore after sex, it could be a number of things cause it...
1) Not enough lube
2) Underwater sex (lube can get wash away and will hurt for days)
3) Allergic reaction to latex/spermicide (because you're smart and use condoms even though you're on the pill, right?!)
4) His endowment - if this is the case, comfort will come over time

In my experience (and I am married) sometimes when you haven't had sex in a while, voice a week or even two, it can be a sore afterwards. I know when I have sex a few days in a row, in attendance is no soreness at all so it must be something to do with the muscles stretching etc.
If you are class of petite, you are probably petite down there also and this probably has something to do beside it - I know I am the same, and it does kind of other feel slightly tender no matter what. Not bloody or sore, just a little tender.
Your contraception shouldn't really hold an effect so I don't think they are related. Basically, the lining surrounded by uterus is getting bigger due to the hormone release, but the uterus and cervix don't really play much of a role when having sex so I don't think you should be concerned.
Just other use lubricant and make sure you there is plenty of foreplay to dampen the amount of soreness you will encounter afterwards - other than that, have fun!!.
