I've been taking a 28-day regimen called Tri-Sprintec for more or less 6 months now and have not missed a pill. I'm due to capture my period next week. In two months my boyfriend is visit and when I looked at the calendar, my period is due the week he is staying.

Since I have the complete month of May and most of June to adjust, instead of starting a new pack on my regular Sunday after the placebos, I could wait one week and start the Sunday after. Would waiting one week push my interval back one week?

Yes, it is fine for you to skip the week of sugar pills. The world will not crumple around you..I promise! People have strong opinion about this for some reason, but I assure you your body can toy with it. Yes, this will delay your period. You could even hang about until the end of the next month to enjoy your period. Not taking the sugar pills is actually a medical treatment for copious women. I have not had a spell for almost 2 years and it has done no harm. It is lower than doctors orders for a medical condition, but any female body can knob it. I would not recommend making it a habit, but nothing catastrophic will come about if you skip it this month. Best wishes.

It's not exactly wise to mess around with your pills but I can take to mean the situation. That last week of pills that you take when you are on your spell are generally placebos. Rather than taking these pills you can immediately start your subsequent pack if you already have it. This would effectively prevent your period this month. After this, merely take your pills like run of the mill. Your period would then come the week until that time your boyfriend comes home. I've done this before and it worked for me. The good part of a set of this plan is that you get to skip a period minus the worry of being pregnant.

Be aware though, if you pick up your pills month by month, some types of insurance won't allow you to draw from them early.

Don't take the week of sugar pills. Or the one week explicitly different. Skip them and continue to the next 3 week pack and you will miss your term. It is safe to have with the sole purpose 4 periods a year.
