Bleeding/Period nearly 5 years after menopause. Abnormal?

My mother has just started bleeding after not have had a period for nearly 5 years. She have irregular bleeding (peri menopause) for two or three years then had her finishing period in December 2003. She is 57 years outmoded. Yesterday, she started having what looks like an humdrum period. It is not spotting, its quite cumbersome, the way her periods be before menopause. She also says she have pre-menstrual symptoms like swollen breasts and bloating for a few days before the bleed started.

She think it is normal and says it is because she have been taking evening primrose capsules lately.

I don't mull over its normal at all and I'm slightly worried. She has never had fibroids, but both her elder sisters have them, and she hasn't really had a proper gynaecological (sp?) exam within years; not since her periods stopped. I think she should jump to the doctor but she's hearing none of it.

Have any of you had a similar experience? Should I be worried? Any direction appreciated, I'm really worried!

How do you bring rid of bacterial vaginosis?

Here is an easy and important answer to a long interrogate. ALL post-menopausal bleeding MUST be investigated to exclude serious causes including tumours. The sooner she sees her GP and have a smear, examination and possibly referral the better.

Is ortho tri-cyclen lo considered a "mini" b.c. pill?

You must take your mum to see the Gynae as soon as possible as bleeding post menopause is usually an indication that something is wrong. If she have fibroids there is nothing to verbs about as they are mostly benign. She also should still be having regular smears done try to convince her that they are not the horrible things they used to be as we no longer grate the cervix with a stick it is now a small 'broom' and she won't surface a thing. Good Luck

Tampons?assistance.?

i don't think it sounds majority though i do sometimes have like a small time of year every now and then, but its usually after i own lost some weight.i would definitely hold on to nagging her to go to the docs or if not to the practise nurse and hold a word with her.your mum might find it easier to talk to the nurse than the doctor...i know cos i'm close to that!! silly really but its difficult to change.good luck ,i know us mums can be stubborn devils when we verbs our heels in!!

I found a few bumps on my breasts, could it be breast cancer??

I had equal problem so i went to the doctor's, i was referred to the hospital where on earth they done a small op. which came back clear. I would suggest she saw her doc freshly as a precaution and put your minds at rest
Good luck
