How long after I stop taking birth control, will my cycle be past its sell-by date?

My husband and I recently established that we might want to have children surrounded by the next few years and that I should stop taking the pill. I solely stopped taking it a few months ago, but my period seem to be really messed up. Last month it was two weeks postponed. I didn't get it surrounded by January so that means I am already beyond three weeks unsettled. I took a pregnancy test and it be negative, but I guess my examine is, Is this normal? Do adjectives women that stop taking the pill have this problem? And if so for how long? I merely don't want to have the thought that I might be pregnant pop surrounded by my head every time I am behind schedule, even though I know there is remarkably little chance that I could be. Help, please!!
