Do any women own any depo provera horror stories?
Answers: I was on Depo for for a while over 9 years and loved it... Until I realized what it be doing to my body.
I didn't have the side effects that frequent people hold. I did gain a little bit of consignment, but not enough to concern me. I stopped have periods after the second injection.
Last summer I be having profoundly of trouble with tooth sensitivity and go to the dentist. Imagine my shock when he told me that my teeth essentially had no calcium moved out, and that Depo might be the cause! I have never had dental work of any loving, not even a cavity, and I am now within the process of having 17 teeth worked on.
Apparently Depo cause bone density loss. My OB-GYN never told me that. I have a household history of osteoporosis, and now I'm waiting for the results of a bone density scan. I never dreamed that birth control could do something resembling this.
I've been bad Depo since September 2007 and still have however to have a length. Not that I'm complaining, since the whole rationale I chose Depo is to keep from have a period, but it would be nice to surface like my body be back to run of the mill!
No but I remember when renewing my BC pill prescription my doctor told me a horror story about how she doesnt resembling to prescribe it because it has so abundant problems and a woman on it had her extent for over a month and had to hold BC pills on top of the shot to try and correct it and stop her interval.
She said it would be the last entry she would try giving to me if everything else didnt work.
I never took it personally. I be friends with a girl contained by High School who took it and had horrible effects. She is the origin I refuse to bring it.
She grew facial hair, bled approaching a period for 6 months straight, gain 70 lbs and got horrible acne.
But next I know 2 girls who were on it and have no effects at all. I guess it depends on the body.
The worst entity about it is that its not approaching the pill where you can basically stop taking it and everything will go away. Its a shot thats designed to final a certain ammount of time so you hold to wait until it wear off.
I be completely miserable the entire time I was on it. My doctor told me my hormones be just evening out and to administer it some more time.
I stayed on it for a year, and I ended up putting on 40 lbs. I be very mean to eat sound and I maintained my exercise rank, but the weight kept piling on. I kept getting migraines, my fuzz fell out in handfuls, my facade broke out, I was depressed, and I lost my sex drive entirely. I be fortunate when it came to bleeding, though. I never have my period while I be on it. My friend bled all but one week every 3 months while she be on it.
I know birth control affects everyone differently, but this one is pure hell for a lot of general public! They should do a better job explaining the side effects (including bone calcium loss) and perchance even include a waiver to sign.
I had a bleak experience with it to. I own heard of folks that did ok with it though. I dream up the Doctors should explain the side effects in abundantly of detail before they bestow it to you. I also don't think they should even propose it to women under 25 years older. The upside to mine was no time for the six and half years I be on Depo, then quit and eighteen months next have just had one interval. The downside? Facial hair, thinning spine to the point that I almost have a lacking hair spot, gained 100 pounds and no sex drive.speech about brand name you feel close to an ogre! Fortunately my OB/GYN did blood work and I started HRT to correct the problems.
in good health, I have never be on depo provera, but I know a few peole who have. Most own horror stories but one has a angelic story...she could not take birth control pills so give the shot a try and it works wonders for her. I remember a few years ago asking my mom if having my extent for 9 days straight with it man INCREDIBLY heavy and HORRIBLE cramping be normal and I remember my mom maxim that yes, it is sometime and that her best friend went and get a shot to stop her periods altogether but done up making her bleed for months afterwards and NOTHING made it stop. I am now thinking that she be talking roughly the depo provera shot.
I myself would be a little sketched out if offered to pocket the shot just because of my HORRIBLE experience on birth control pills. Although not the shot, I own experienced:
-nausea (thankfully no vomitting)
-random blood sugar drops (which I never got before)
-hair loss (thankfully be only on that pill for a week and partly anyways)
-bloating
-decreased appetite
-decreased sex drive
-anger outbursts
-severe depression that disappeared after taken off of that prescription
-weakness (on a separate occasion)
-dizziness (on a separate occasion)
-constant headache
-constant vaginal bleeding (the entire time I be on the active pills)
-migraines (never have a migraine in my natural life!)
-sudden bleeding in between "periods"
-cramping (even though I be put on it to alleviate cramps)
-heavy period
-mood swings galore
-uncontrollable crying
-blood clot formation (pains/symptoms scheduled below associated with blood clots that I experienced):
*sudden stabbing pains contained by calf muscle
*sudden stabbing pains in thigh
*pains contained by the arm
*pains in the foot/toes
*weakness/dizziness/lightheadedness adjectives at once
*abdominal pains
I started Depo shortly after the birth of my daughter because I got pregnant on the pill, so we know that didn't work for me. I did three shots of Depo, so basically it be in my system for 9 months. The combonation of the Depo and the post partum hormons put me surrounded by one of the craziest places. I was super depressed, and super angry. I have some really scarey thoughts about my tentative baby. I lost greatly of hair, to the point that my mom be concerned becuase she could see it thinning. I had really unpromising back anguish for about a month after the shot, and later it would fade. I basically feel like I have horrible PMS for about 2 months after respectively shot. Just when the symptoms were starting to fade it would be time for the subsequent shot. My doctor put my on an anti depressant and we switched to an IUD when it came time for the 4th shot. It's not really a devastating effect but it be a side effect. I bleed for 3 mths straight. When i went to take my next shot, I'd stop bleeding that same daytime of the shot, and for a week later. Then I'd start bleeding adjectives over for months until i got sick of it and switched my birth control...
I've be on the shot for about five years presently. I'm 25. I haven't had a extent since my first shot. I haven't put on any weight. My biggest and simply real problem beside the shot is that I completelty lost my sex drive, When I ask my gyno about it he say the normal crap resembling your stressed or busy or that i should get more sleep at darkness. I can't seem to trademark him understand that a common healthy 25 year ancient woman should not feel this channel. Maybe thats how it really works. You don't want to have sex when your on the shot. =) I be on it for four years. I gained in the region of seventy pounds in the first three, afterwards I stopped gaining. I become much more depressed than I already was, and I have a lot of dizzy spells. I really regret it immediately.
