Should calcium deposits in the breast be removed to prevent cancer?

My stepmom is have a surgical biopsy on Monday AND have some calcium deposits removed because her Doctor said it is adjectives in a minute to own them removed to prevent cancer. I never hear of this and also suggest she could enjoy a stereotactic biopsy done. It adjectives sounds too aggressive to me, base solitary on calcium deposits. He mentioned that they be "sharp and pointy" looking.
