How long does it steal for the birth control patch to start working?

I've been on the patch very soon for two weeks and one day. The first sunshine of my period be on a Friday and I started using the patch on the following Sunday which was two weeks ago. I have sex with my husband tonight minus using a condom. Should I be worried?

Just in case some of you don't know, the patch have the same hormone as the birth control pill and the Nuva ring, but newly more (by 60% I've heard). Anyway, so I'm sure it works the same as these other methods of birth control.

Another cross-examine: Has anyone experienced any side effects from using the patch? If so, what are they and how long did they take to subside? I've be experiencing nausea and mild headaches and am wondering if these symptoms may be side effects from the patch.
