No its not rough, but it is kinda messy. Both of you tend to get alittle bloody. The smell is horrible. Period and sex smells do not mix. You can still seize pregnant while having sex on your interval so if you choose to do it, wear a condom. It will be alot cleaner too for him.

Sex during period always make my cramps stop. It's messy and you should always use a condom. It cause no harm and the solely pain I've ever experienced is if I'm bloated, but a different position usually alleviates that.
