Can the testosterone stop the abnormal bleeding during period?

I understand that testosterone suspension is a harmone used for males with the sole purpose. But a Gynic prescribed Testosterone (intramuscular) for a female complaining irregular and prolonged period. Some web sites read out that testosterone is generally used for males and contained by case of Breast cancer Testosterone is given for womanly. This lady never complained anything something like her breast. Can testosterone be given to a female for the function other than breast cancer also?
