If this pain occur after you eat more than promising it is heart burn, so cut out spicy /acidic foods and caffeine. You can also try OTC meds such as zantac.

If the pain occur any time and is not related to food intake it may be pleurisy or costochondritis. Essentially it is pain within the cartilage/muscles of your chest wall. The cause is collectively unknown. Usually an anti-inflammatory such as Motrin and using heat can serve ease the misery but the condition is self limiting and can last for days to weeks. Sometimes steroids are prescribed to sustain with severe cases.

If this spasm is associated with severe shortness of breath and or a cough near sudden onset you may stipulation to go to the ER to rule out a pulmonary embolism.
