It is a slang term for a woman's private parts, the possession is used because the area when uncovered supposedly looks similar to a cut or a gash. Gash is used as it tends to indicate a messy wound a bit than cut which implies more of a slice etc.

Pretty illustrative really and not a nice word to use in that context, it would clearly not be used as a compliment if some one was describing your nouns as a "gash".
