Is the pill stopped for me?

okay this is my second month on the pill. Lorestrin or something like specifically the pill my doctor gave me. Ever since my first pack on the 12 pill I be having spotting( break thru bleeding). I did find my period on impossible to tell apart day which be on the 26 and finished today the 1st. Now I always hold a 7 day length and when my doctor gave me the pill he said I would enjoy a shorter and light interval. Now I still lasted the 7 days and the bleeding be a little lighter but be still a bit heavy. How do you know if the pill is working?
