Solving chronic constipation for older culture?

My mother is getting up there surrounded by the years (She's in her behind fifties), and for some time now she's be complaining that she can't go to the bathroom ever, and it's starting to really verbs me. It's been going on for monthes, and though she eat more fiber than ever, vegetables, prunes, and all that, she still have immense trouble and her stomach hurts her all the time. I don't know much almost this, so was wondering if anyone could suggest what she could do. She's greatly um, not willing to budge the colonoscopy route, and is pretty against doctors/hospitals, as much as I've tried to steer her that way.

ways to avoid constipation are: drink plenty of water, put away fiber, exercise, limit things such as cheese and other constipating foods. does she rob a stool softener? docusate sodium is good and over the counter and also cheap...if that does not oblige she may need to occ lift a laxative but i dont like my patients to lift them unless it is absolutely indispensable. you can become dependent on them... also try Metamucil every day she may become gassy but it will lower as she continues to take it.

but she does obligation to see the doctor...just to rule out other problems.

Is it common?

My first suggestion would be for her to see a doctor or nutritionist for a professional opinion. However, near are a few more things your mom can do on her own to help her bowels acquire moving. Staying hydrated is key, so sort sure your mom is drinking plenty of water. Activity is also an significant factor. Make sure your mom is moving through out the day. Body movement help bowel movement. I hope that helps.
