It's more than plausible. I know a woman who was flown out of a remote nouns to hospital to have a fast growing stomach tumour removed... only to discover that within fact she have NOT entered menopause 7 months faster, but was pregnant. She be a normal size and have no idea.
When you're bulky, you feel collectively kind of unwell anyway, so an extra 5 or 8 lbs isn't going to construct too much of a difference... and if you're already depressed, you might not notice a "sudden" predisposition to burst into tears for no apparent justification.
