Napkins remind me of diapers. They stick to your underwear and absorb your flow as it exits your vagina. I don't recommend them since they can become smelly and result in chaffing.
Tampons are rolled up cotton that are inserted into the vagina to involve your flow. Unlike napkins, they absorb the flow while it's still inside of you. There is no smell, and they are far more comfortable, at lowest possible to me.
Good luck with anything you choose. Each person have their own preference, so doesn`t matter what you choose will be sure to suit you well.
