Change the blades on a blade every two or three months. Change the blades on an electric shaver every six or eight months. Try using an electric shaver instead of a razor. Razors shave extremely close to the skin. They are more plausible to cause a imprudent than an electric shaver. Also, you want to use plenty of lotion after you shave. Lotion does prevent rashes.

Hi - I change mine roughly speaking every 10/14 days (I do my legs every other day). Id say you should use it for no more than 5 shaves, that seem to be my 'magic number'! Re smooth and shiny legs, moisturise moisturise! If you dont find the usual moisturisers work, later try baby grease on damp skin - works a dream! :O) xxYou should adjustment it after about the 5th use. Blunt razor are more likely to cut you and irritate your skin than sharp ones.
I haven't used a cut-throat for ages though - i have an epilator. It leaves my skin lovely and smooth and down doesn't grow back for at leat 5 weeks. The more you use it, the smaller quantity regrowth you get, and eventually your spine just won't grow stern at all because it damages the fuzz follicles and weakens them.
