No need for false alarms. It could be any of the following.

Cancer
Ectasia
An innocous injury
Complicated abscess (along beside a bunch of other signs)

Breast discharges can be normal (physiological) but the red flag is the color "red". Red should alarm you and a look in to the doctor should become a priority. Do not jump to hasty conclusions though.

I would progress to a doctor some where. I don't see how that could be commonplace. Even when I was pregnant and after I have my baby the discharge be never red.
