And could this cause phenomenal bleeding? My periods enjoy been remaining 2-3 wks. I have be taking the depo provera injections for 4 mos., but had bleeding symptoms previously. Any suggestions for treatment?

Are you talking in the region of uterin fibroids? If so they really don't know what causes them. There are a few types of treatment most are hugely invasive. I would visit your OB/GYN and speak beside them.
