That statment means it is more potent than the pill. I've used the IUD for 17 years with definitely no problems. It's been a blessing for spontaniety, and in attendance are zero hormonal side-effects if you choose Para-Gard. The other two IUDs own hormones and have to be changed more frequently. Once it's inserted it is significant immediately, and if/when you want to capture pregnant just own it removed.

It is not advisable for women who have never be pregnant to use an IUD, however it is now considered a nontoxic form of "emergency contraception."
