If you dont have your period, and are going swimming, the water gravity will not tolerate blood come out of your vagina. So you dont need to worry about it. You can wear a liner only just in case though.

I've done it before. And nought ever happened. I'd advice taking it out asap though. Don't forget and just quit it in there. As soon as you're done swimming check make sure you're not on your term and take the tampon out because if you leave it in in that too long without any "liquid" coming out it could irritate your vagina and cause an infection. But 1 to 3 hours shouldn't hurt anything.
