Answers: I just took my 15-year-old daughter to her pediatrician for her annual physical last Friday. He had her undress completely and put on a little paper gown. They weighed her and measured her height and weight and blood pressure. When the doctor came in he just started at the top of her head and worked his way down to the tips of her toes. He listened to her breathing with a stethoscope on her back. Then he told her to slip her arms out of the sleeves and he just lowered the gown to her lap. He listened to her heart and he did a breast exam. Then he told her to lay on her back and he pushed on her abdomen in various places. The n he asked her to pull her knees toward her chest and open her knees apart. He looked at her genitals and touched them. He didn't put anything up inside her vagina, but he just spread her open and looked. Then he did a rectal exam where he put his finger up into her anus while he pressed on her lower abdomen. Then he asked her to sit up and he tapped ker knees and ankles with the rubber hammer and finally he checked her feet and toes.
Meagan was pretty embarrassed, but she talked to me later and said she felt good knowing that she is healthy. Her pediatrician said she is ready to go to the gynecologist next summer when she's 16 for an internal exam..
Regular doctors just run blood tests, urine tests, etc.
Now if you're talking about a gynecologist, they do other things. They do pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams, and may even do blood tests also.
