What cause menstrual pains, etc?
Answers: The hormones cause your uterus to contract so that it squeezes out the uterine lining. The cramps are from your uterus working so knotty. Your uterus is supported by ligaments that attach to your back. That is why women often attain back pains during their period - those ligaments can experience affliction from the contractions as well.
It is simply the drastic change within hormones that causes your bowel habits to rework during menstruation. I'm not sure specifically what about the hormones makes this adapt, since I'm not a doctor. :) But I know it is directly related to the immediate change surrounded by hormones that start the contractions in your uterus. Same with your skin..
