Please assistance! Doctors, etc. Question roughly speaking vaginal infection/STD/male doctor issue?
i'm 18 years old and i was sexually live about a month ago, but i'm not currently. my parents aren't aware of the fact that i ever be and i would like to keep it that course.
i got my mom to make me a doctor's appointment, it's for subsequent week but with a male family connections practitioner apparently. i'm really concerned about this because i'm pretty positive i need a vaginal exam...
so i enjoy a few questions:
* how will confidentiality work for me, as an 18 year old but on my parents' insurance and dependent on my parents still? i live contained by california and i'm starting college this fall.
* once i am in the exam, can i request a womanly doctor instead? i think the ideal situation would be to see a gynecologist but my mom say theres no need for that because i'm "not sexually active". she's not taking this seriously at all, she think i just have a yeast infection (i dont, the symptoms don't game up and are more severe) and told me to just drink "cranberry juice". it was intricate enough to get her to engineer me an appointment.
* and finally, what can i expect from this "family practitioner" during my appointment? if they won't give me an exam, what can i do?
gratitude in advance for answering any or adjectives of these questions, i'm really concerned and i appreciate any help i can carry!
Answers: 1.You will have to sign a paper whether or not your parents can see your and discuss your results/visit near your doctor.
2. Doctor's offices are very busy and they will probably be a bit irritated if you ask within all honesty. There will be a female nurse present for court reasons. But also in adjectives honesty you should be honest with your parents so you can get the proper medical exactness. You could have gone to Planned Parenthood and gotten treated there, they adopt most insurances and are very discreet. They test for STDs and can prescribe you the medication.
3. I am sure if you start information bank your symptoms that aren't a yeast infection they will probably know what is up. I've never been to a family practitioner for this class of thing so I don't know if they will do a swab or not or just refer you to the gynecologist. .
consult to the male doctor anyways, don't worry roughly who it is. the confidentially it total yours, request your mom to stay out of the room and inform the doctor to not discuss anything with her. they will do a pap smear which can be embarrassing the first couple of time, but you want to have cultures done. very crucial for you health, be strong, i know you can. Ha! That's what you deserve :D.
the answer to your first question will be that as long as you move about in there alone and ask the doctor not to detail you parents or whoever then they have to do as you speak because its doctor patient confidentiality so dont worry going on for that especially as youre 18.
secondly you can request a female doctor but not when youre in the exam that could be a bit late and one may not be free but i dont see the problem with have a male doctor, just because they dont enjoy a vagina means nothing. reckon of all the vaginas theyve seen contained by their time, trust me itl be a lot so yours isnt going to make any differance.
if they dont make available you an exam then thats because they dont believe that youl have a problem thats worthy of that which is a appropriate thing you should be happy more or less. the doctor will always know best and you have to respect their diagnosis over what you cogitate it might be and what they say it is. im sure itl be fine x.
You had unprotected sex near a man(you did not say he was your boyfriend), but don't want to go and get examined by a man..anywho..
1) You have the right to request(fill out forms & get copy) as to not to enjoy your medical information given to your parents.
2) Because you & your mom are playing the "head in the sand game" this can become highly ugly. You thought you were full-size enough to have sex, in a minute act like an fully developed and to talk with your mom. I enjoy never heard of a 18 not going to see a GYN because she is not sexually active...that doesn't craft sense. ALL women should start going & getting a breast exam and a PAP smear..whether sexually active or a virgin...for YOUR HEALTH.
3) A pap smear and lots of questions. Have you talk to the guy yet...you do know him don't you?
Next time...use protection
.
Tell her that you want a female doctor. You are feeble enough to make that choice for yourself and at your age you should be getting a pap smear and seeing a gyno whether or not she think you're active. You can tell your doctor that also when you bring to the appointment, maybe there is a womanly doctor in his practice you can be switched to. It's fine to not want a man going down there at your age and you shouldn't be forced to do that.
I don't know in the order of CA's laws but I know that your doctor can't tell your parents anything contained by my experience. And as far as I know your insurance can't either. My parents haven't said anything about my individual on the pill, and that's been for over a year and I still use their insurance.
But the most important piece is being upfront with your mom. If you want to achievement like an adult (have sex) next you need to deal beside all repercussions of those actions. Use condoms from immediately on! And only have partner that you trust. Get tested regularly as well, check out planned parenthood for free/cheap trialling areas.
