My sis was told today that she has hpv what does this mean will she be ok?

Answers:    Your sis was probably diagnosed when her Pap found abnormal cell changes on her cervix. Once a Pap find abnormal cell changes...then a second part of our Pap is done confirming that these cell changes are due to high risk HPV types.

Your sisters doctor may want to do have a better look at your sisters cervix using a magnification tool..he may take a biopsy of anything that is unusual...or your sisters doctor just may want to wait and see if the virus becomes more persistent.

This is the best information on the internet to explain cervical cell changes and the treatments that may be needed.

Learn a bit more about the virus...and give your sis a little extra hug... sometimes it is a bit scary when we are first diagnosed with the virus.

I was diagnosed many years ago with the virus. Her doctor will take good care of her...and she will follow up with Paps as directed by her doctor.

I wish your sister well. .
HPV is and STD that is transmitted through sexual and/or skin to skin contact. Basically there are warts in her private parts..if left untreated it can lead to cervical cancer..whenever the symptoms start popping up she will need to go get treatment to get it taken care of...the more treatments she gets the less likely the warts will come back..although its a virus so there is no cure but its really important that she gets the treatment done...she will be fine as long as she takes care of herself

Also it might be an good to consider taking gardisil..hpv has about over 100 different types of viruses so she can still be protected from the others
