My boyfriend doesn't believe that period put together women cranky. What do I articulate?

How can I explain to him that most women really do get cranky, and its not just an excuse that women use?

Answers:    Well not adjectives women get cranky. I cry a lot around that time and find emotional but not really bitchy. I know some women who get zilch but anyways here you go:
"Exactly what causes premenstrual syndrome is unknown, but several factor may contribute to the condition. Cyclic changes in hormones appear to be an important cause, because signs and symptoms of premenstrual syndrome cash with hormonal fluctuations and also disappear with pregnancy and menopause.

Chemical change in the brain also may be involved. Fluctuations of serotonin, a brain chemical (neurotransmitter) that is thought to play a crucial role within mood states could trigger the symptoms. Insufficient amounts of serotonin may contribute to premenstrual depression, as well as to fatigue, food cravings and sleep problems.

Some women with severe premenstrual syndrome hold undiagnosed depression, though depression alone does not cause all of the symptoms. Stress also may aggravate some of the symptoms, but alone it isn't a motivation.

Some PMS symptoms have been related to low levels of vitamins and minerals. Other possible contributors to PMS include eating seriously of salty foods, which may cause fluid retention, and drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages, which may mete out mood and energy level disturbances.
he most adjectives signs and symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome include:

Emotional and behavioral symptoms

Tension or anxiety
Depressed mood
Crying spells
Mood swings and irritability or anger
Appetite changes and food cravings
Trouble falling asleep (insomnia)
Social bill
Poor concentration
Physical signs and symptoms

Joint or muscle pain
Headache
Fatigue
Weight gain from fluid retention
Abdominal bloating
Breast tenderness
Acne flare-ups
Constipation or diarrhea
Although the catalogue of potential signs and symptoms is long, most women with premenstrual syndrome experience only a few of these problems.

For some women, the physical misery and emotional stress are severe enough to affect their day after day routines and activities. For most of these women, signs and symptoms disappear as the menstrual period begin.

But a small proportion of women with premenstrual syndrome have disabling symptoms every month. This form of PMS have its own psychiatric designation — premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). PMDD is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome with symptoms including severe depression, feelings of hopelessness, anger, anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty concentrating, irritability and tautness. A number of women with severe PMS may have an underlying psychiatric disorder."

MRS J you're wrong men do hold hormonal changes through the month which is why sometimes they are more aggressive. It's called irritable masculine syndrome or IMS. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/a...

Medicine just never focused on it as much because women it's more obvious since we achieve our periods..
"Come over next week when Aunt Flo is surrounded by town and see for yourself"

Ask him to talk to his dad. Explain that unlike men, whose hormones are at the same horizontal all month (bc they think around sex all the time haha), women's hormones peak when they're ovulating and when they're on their period, so it's a constant up-down battle..
he right in a mode ,, all women do not have problems beside it ,, many have no problems next to it ,, but some d0 , i would say they are cranky, but many women use it as a virus , but it natural, thing women hold , most women i no are active with it ,newly carry on with within daily lives tell him he would believe that women bring back cranky if HE had to go through have a period! or you could just politely explain that a woman's hormones are vitally on a raging rollercoaster when she has her period...right luck! (boys just dont understand things sometimes...)
