Just make sure you don't overdo it too much. Exercise is extremely beneficial, as long as you don't go overboard! :-)
It stopped because of the exercise, yes. Extreme exercise cause the period to stop because of your lack of rest. I'm not sure if you can bring back it back, so I suggest calling your doctor about it.
