Is it okay to start the patch between period?

I've just gotten the birth control patch and the doctor told me I could either skulk until I got my period, or apply the patch on Sunday. She wasn't completely clear about it.
I finished my period in the region of two weeks ago and am not expecting it again for another week or so. Would it be okay to put on the patch this Sunday, between periods? Or do I HAVE to wait until I carry my period to start using it?

Answers:    You definitely hold to wait until you get your length. You can put the patch on right when you start your period (or any time afterward). But if you start on a Sunday, the way the patch works, you won't take your period on the weekend. You period will almost other start and end on weekdays. So, it's most convenient to put the patch on the Sunday right after your period starts (even if you're still on your period)..
You DON'T put it on between period! Either the day the period starts (I did that and have the WORST cramps that period) or the Sunday right after your period starts (So you never have your spell during a weekend again)
