I'm switching birth control pills...

now my question is, i enjoy been on them for years... i'm just varying to a different kind... Do i have to use a backup method the first week of the up to date pills? Or will i be okay? i never take them late, or forget... I freshly wanna know if i need a backup method the first 7 days... thanks!

Answers:    i've changed my pill a few times, if your using the combined pill (28 days on 7 daytime break) and you are changing to another combined pill then no you dont necessarily call for to use extra protection, you should start your new pill on your first break day ie transport your current pill then continue straight onto the clean one with out a break.

if you are changing from the combined to the pop or mini pill consequently yes you do need to use extra contraception for the next 7 days.

your doctor should also know how to advise you.

i have used the pill for 8 years and changed 4 times using the combined pill and i own not fell pregnant. .
As long as you don't skip any days in between switching them you should be fine. No because you have be on them already
