How soon after getting my first depo shot will it become forceful?

I got my first depo- provera shot yesterday, which was 7 days after my ending period. I hate using condoms near my boyfriend. We have both been tested for STD's and HIV/AIDS and we are both verbs, but I don't want to have unprotected sex too soon and risk pregnancy.

Answers:    I just did equal thing today. All doctors and articles will tell you that if you find the shot during your cycle, or within 5 days after your cycle the depo shot will begin working inside 24 hours, by not producing another egg after you just released the last, your cervix inside layer hasn't thickened so the egg won't stay there, and your mucas is still too gelatinous for the sperm to reach the egg if you did develop one. However, since you waited until after that 5 morning window, chances are that you enjoy developed a new egg, your lining is getting thicker, etc. With that contained by mind, it's been recommended to wait two weeks, or use condoms for at most minuscule two weeks before depending on the shot to take effect. My Dr. told me today to hang around at least a month before counting on it though. Better sheltered than sorry. Long story short, wait a month to be safe, however technically 2 weeks "should" be effectual
