How much does an abortion cost and can it effect your fertility in later life?
Answers: The cost of an abortion depends on the doctor and the area you live in and what services will be done. It will also depend on how far along the pregnancy is. Average cost of 10 weeks gestation nonhospital abortion is about $550.
There is much evidence that abortion is very safe in regard to its possible impact on future pregnancies. Research has shown that both abortion by medication (medical abortion) and abortion by surgery (surgical abortion) very rarely result in infertility or complications in subsequent pregnancies.
During a medical abortion, a woman takes oral medications — mifepristone (formerly known as RU-486) and misoprostol — during her first trimester to abort the fetus. In a recent 2007 study of more than 11,800 women, researchers concluded that medical abortion does not increase the risk of future miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, preterm delivery or low birth weight babies.
During a surgical abortion, the fetus is removed from the uterus with a vacuum pump or syringe during outpatient surgery. It's possible — but very uncommon — for a surgical abortion to cause scarring on the inside of the uterus or to weaken the cervix. Such damage, if it occurs, may need surgical treatment.
Like all medical procedures, terminations of pregnancies carry some risk. However, the risk of medical and surgical abortions is quite low.
.
Abortions can range up to $600 dependent upon the length of pregnancy. Abortions can occur up to the 12th week of pregnancy and sometimes through the second trimester depending on the circumstance, in those cases the costs are generally much higher as a more invasive surgery is necessary.
Any procedure such as an abortion carries some risk of possible infertility, however if done correctly and carefully there is hardly a risk. Medical terminations (up to 7 weeks) carry the lowest risk of fertility issues down the road, but also carry higher risks in the procedure itself.
Surgical abortion would hold a slightly more risk of infertility because of the invasiveness of the procedure but again, the risk is still very low..
I don't know how well statistics are kept on this subject because the abortion business is very poorly regulated. They are not even subject to the same sanitation standards as most restaurants are. I have read that as many as 1 in 3 women who have had abortions are unable to go on to have children. While I have never had an abortion I have 2 friends who have. One went on to have a child years later, the other was never able to have a child due to the damage done to her uterus from her abortion which was done in a "reputable" planned parenthood clinic. As far as cost, it depends on how far along you are and what type of procedure you get; but I believe average cost starts at about $300.00. Costs of an abortion vary... you would need to call the clinic that provides those services.
And yes, in some cases if can effect fertility later in life. There is also a risk of infections, complications and severe blood loss.
There is also the emotional factor to think about. Talk to Planned Parenthood about ALL of your options before you make any sort of decision. .
It cost around $300 in Australia. It will only affect your fertility if you have three (and even then the problem can be fixed) (I have been told this by several doctors).
If you are choosing this path I would advice you to try and get some support from your partner/friends/family. Good luck honey..
you're gonna get some nasty responses on here bout this one but take the good with the bad.
I've never had one but know someone who has and it cost her $380. It can cause problem but mostly if you go to a proper clinic, not some back yard ripper, then you'll be o.k.
Make sure abortion is legal where you are and get it done before you get too far and cause problems.
I feel for you in this situation and wish you all the best. xoxo .
I am not answering the questiong but I just want to say to the **** that called you a murderer, She is just asking a question it could be for a school assignment for gods sake. When are people going to stop judging when they dont even know the situation Depends how far along you are. Probably somewhere between $300-$5000. And it's a myth that it affects your fertility. You can go on to have as many children as you want when the time is right for you.
