How do I bring up birth control to my mom? I am 18...
The problem is bringing it up. My mom act like a child for the most part, and does not know to be matured about anything. I have honestly never have a conversation with her about my length, or sex, or anything. And not only that, but she will say that it is unnatural and she will shoot the theory down. Being that I am 18 (however I am still in High school...) I would merely go and do it, but I am still on their insurance and I don't want them to find out some other way. I mistrust that would be worse.
Should I bring it up with her? Or should I just shift in and do it myself? How can I be absolutely sure that my parents won't find it on a bill or something next if I do? Thanks for the help. : )
Answers: You can't get a prescription for the pill lacking a pelvic exam and a Pap smear. You can go to your usual family doctor for this, or you can find an ob-gyn. At any doctor's office, ask them for a new HIPAA form. I can't remember the exact number of respectively letter, but they will know what you mean. Tell them that you are 18, but that you still live at home, you are still on your parents' insurance, and that financially your parents are still responsible for your bill. Then ask them if the HIPAA law allow your parents to have information about your medical history, since they are still responsible for you. You may be capable of fill out a new HIPAA form that states the doctor's organization can give NO information about you to anyone except you.
You can also find a unknown ob-gyn, not the one your mom goes to, and ask them the same request for information.
I don't know exactly how the HIPAA laws work with parent-child relationships.
Now, here's another opportunity for you. Just tell your mom that you're going to the doctor for your annual physical. While there, ask the doctor for a prescription for the pill. When you give somebody a lift the prescription to get it filled, don't dance to the pharmacy your parents use, and don't submit it to their insurance or use their drug plan card. Go ahead and pay the full price each month. The physical will show up contained by insurance, but there won't be anything about it that draws suspicion. The pills won't show up on anything that your mom see.
Taking the pill MIGHT ease your difficult periods, and it might not. It MIGHT clear up your monthly break-outs, or it might craft them worse. You won't know until you take it, but don't be surprised if the results aren't always what you expect.
.
When at the doctor speak to the doctor about your problems with your length. If you have a doctor saying it's ok and would be willing to help that might help when talking to your mom.
I go on the pill and it's on my parent's insurance and they have never mentioned it. .
Well you are very seasoned, and technically, at 18, you're considered an adult, so make your own decision now...i would go a condition clinic in your area and find out if nearby is a program that will allow you to get on birth control for free or very low cost...basically tell them you can't afford it on your own b/c you are still a student.good luck Since you're 18 you enjoy every right to do what you like. If you are really bothered by having your parents find out, you could pay envelope cash for them -- depending on your financial circumstance, at least for a while, until you work up the courage to discuss this beside your mother. .
Just tell her its because u wanna regulate your periods... bring her near you to see the doctor to see other options you could use too Like the Nuva ring, Strilet...
i'm 15 and im not sexually active right presently but i am on the BC to regulate my periods
but my mom was ok beside it./..
No you have to tell her. dont do things losing her back. Explain to her your situation. She cant be mad if it is purely for your period. tell her that its the 21st century and it is organic for girls to do this you can go in near yourself and ask you don't need your parents permission only make sure you take them and HIDE them!.
If your 18, you can reasonably see the doctor yourself. <}:-}) Go to a free clinic or a Planned Parenthood in your area. .
the hell next to your mom! love her but get her the f out of your business! mmm k :) Just go ahead and do it. It's your time, not hers..
well, i only enjoy a 300 limit so ill own to do paragraphs
