If you doctor says the coil is in place after it is just be the strings need trimming, the coil itself is located elevated in your uterus so he won't feel that. It is the hormones that the coil contains that are putting you past its sell-by date sex. I've had a mirena coil (for very calorific period problems) for 10 months, its great, no more periods but I did step off sex big time for a while.
Ask your doctor to trim the strings perhaps and discuss that your husband is have problems as this isn't normal. My b/f says he can perceive the strings but he certainly isn't sore after we have sex.
