A friend, age 20, got an automatic computerised appointment for one, and I think when you are call depends on the area of the country you live in and what their policy is. I be told by another friend (a well woman nurse) that they recommend you begin have smears when you become sexually active, and you should have one every 4 or 5 years.HTH

You can wish yourself if you want to have one or not. I don;t think a doctor will cry off if you really want to get one done just because they hold guidelines. I think these days you have need of to take responsibility for your own body.
Btw, in most european countries you hold a smear at least once every two years and you should start as soon as you start having sex. However surrounded by Scandanavian countries it's every year.

I will be 24 in august and have be told I will not be having a smear until I am 25. Originally when I was pregnant beside my daughter(who is now 2) I was told I would enjoy a smear when she turned 1 but then they changed the guidelines. But if you feel for any apology that you need one early later I am sure that your doctor would give you oneDecreased sexual appetite / sexual interest?
I was given a smear after i have my first child at age 20.It used to be that you were given a smear at age 21 i think but it have gone up to 25 now. you should be sent a letter when you turn 25 to jump and have one.
