How effectual are birth control pills?

I am on the one period every 3 months kinda pill (I clutch it for my hellish mestral cramps and that kind of stuff... not as birth control) and although I appropriate it religeously, Im afraid that there may still be a fate I could get pregnant if and when I ever wish to take the leap. Should I also use some other form of protection? Im uber niave in the region of this sort of thing and I get the impression wierd asking the world but if you can help me out that would be great :)

Answers:    Generally birth control pills are 92-99% forceful for a person near normal sexual metabolism. In your baggage it might be less. Talk to your doctor.
Like the individual stated above me, its pretty effective if used correctly. However, I get pregnant while on BC. My doctor said I was within that 2% that stood a chance of getting pregnant. So, any way, too much protection is better than an unplanned pregnancy The efficiency is <1-2 reported pregnancies in 100 women per year.
