Pelvic Ultrasound...?
Reason for examinaton is - recurrent uti, rule out any renal, bladder pathology...
What big-hearted of ultrasound do they use for this? internal or external?
Thanks...
Ps: I have be having stabbing pains contained by my ovaries (and also period-like pain during sex) and have problems fully emptying my bladder...
Answers: A pelvic ultrasound evaluates the uterus and ovaries. These can be done transabdominally (with the transducer/camera over your skin) or transvaginally with the transducer inserted contained by your vagina).
A renal ultrasound evaluates the kidneys and urinary bladder. These are ONLY done transbdominally, with the transducer lying on the skin of your abdomen.
Because the principle for your exam is recurrent urinary tract infection and r/o renal problems, this is a renal ultrasound and not a true pelvic ultrasound. So you will not be have an internal, transvaginal scan.
If the reason for the exam have to do with your uterus or ovaries, such as rule out ovarian cyst or PCOS, you might be facing a transvaginal scan.
you might own cysts or something that they might want to rule out. I had really doomed to failure pain to and they did an pelvic ultrasound and they told me that i hold cysts. So that what you might have. But it may be nought to. I also have be having uti that dance away and come back. It is because you don't verbs your self good after you enjoy intercourse. Also it could be caused by you not empty your bladder every time you go pee.
I a moment ago turned 20. They said that i was to childlike for cysts but then i go to and GYNO and they told me that they were cysts. I enjoy had frequent transvaginal ultrasound they will show more than a plevic ultrasound does. They might also do and hysterosalpingogram. I have have alot of things done. You can IM me if you need to find out anymore question.
