I believe it's designed for cystic acne, but you could make conversation to your doctor about trying it for regular acne. Let me see if I can find a join for you to check out.
This site says it's for severe nodular acne (cysts), usually after antibiotics and other treatments hold failed. http://www.drugs.com/accutane.html
Your doctor will probably want to try those first, especially surrounded by a woman.
Acne in broad leaves scars, especially if you pick at it. I'm not really sure if any one medication prevents scarring more than another, especially if it's oral and not topical. There might be some info on that within the link I posted.

Yes accutane works for adjectives acne by decreasing the amount of oil produced by the skin's sebaceous (oil) glands. Because of it's side affects and the risk it can enjoy on a fetus if you become pregnant, it is generally used solely as a last resort (In the US anyways). I started accutane roughly 2 weeks ago. I don't have really discouraging cystic acne, just middle-of-the-road breakouts that never stop. So far, so good. Your skin will gain really dry so ask your doctor for a good moisturizer. Also, slather on shea butter chapstick so your chops don't crack. I had a quite easy time getting on accutane here (in Italy) versus when I saw dermatologists when I lived within America. My doctor here is very literary and understands that excessive acne can with the sole purpose be treated with accutane. In the States, the doctors other wanted to put me on antibiotics that never worked. If you can find a doctor that will prescribe it for you, it is totally worth it (side effects and all). I took accutane for one month.
I didn't enjoy the cyst acne, but I had small bumps everywhere.
My borhter took it and presently has amazing skin. I would not recommend it though. I contracted dyslipidemia from it. That is when your blood level are totally messed up, and your lipids don't work properly. It also causes dizziness and effect my schoolwork. I had to dance on a low/no fat diet to lower the level again. I would just wipe my face twice a sunshine and go on a really strong cream. I be never faithful to the creams, but in a minute that I am, they are working extremely well. Good luck though, resembling any medicines, it have different effects on each individual soul.
