Does Augmentin affect birth control pills?

I have be prescribed the antibiotic, Augmentin, for a wound on my foot. I have hear over the years that certain antibiotics can lower the worth of birth control pills. Now, I made a point to ask the doctor while he was making the prescription if this antibiotic would enjoy any affect. He said NO ... that the rumor is an "old wives tale" that have been spread around forever. He did right to be heard that only a secure antibiotic is known to mess near the pill. (He named the prescription... I'm not sure of what it was though) So.. I make tracks the doctor's office reaction secure. Then I talk to the pharmacist as I filled the prescription and mentioned that I be glad it wouldn't interfere with my pill. The pharmacist go on to say that I shouldn't argue beside the doctor's statement... but her niece had gotten pregnant while on Augmentin freshly earlier that year. I plan to use "back-up methods" newly incase... but has anyone have any experience with this antibiotic contained by particular?

Any one taking mirtazipine for anxiety and putting on freight?

I was looking at the research on this and I get two completely different answers like you. Numerous Med sites said that antibiotics affect the bc and the risk of becoming pregnant increases. However, in attendance was one site that mentioned a bright study of 8000+ women indicated that there is not plenty evidence to find if antibiotics increased the chance of pregnancy.

I would use a hindmost up method because there isn't ample information (beyond the one study). I would love for this antibiotic "rumor?" to be disproven, but until I see more studies or medical journal articals: I wouldn't beleive it of late yet.

Ok so i be wondering?

Hmm, I don't know about that antibiotic contained by particular (sorry, I know that be your question) but I do know three "antibiotic babies" and their mothers were on different types of antibiotics. I articulate use protection, b/c better safe than sorry!
