I have be on zolft for about 10 yrs and quality it is not as effective. Is this a possibility? Time to redeploy?
I'm also at that "mid life" phase;do all the hormonal change alter the effect of my med?

Your body change a LOT throughout 10 years. They say that your body go through major change every 7 years or so. For example, you could be allergic to bees your whole go, and then sooner or later you just wont be anymore! or you might not enjoy any kinds of allergies and afterwards all of a sudden you've get a tun!
Now, I know we're talking nearly depression medications and not allergies here.. but I do believe that your body could enjoy changed over the years. Becuase you've been on it for so long - I don`t know your body has even gotten used to it, making it smaller number effective. Perhaps your doctor can bring to the fore your dose. If not, try switching to something similar/mild like prozac.

I would speech to your doctor about it. There could be a unpredictability that you have built up some sort of "immunity" to it. It may be time to loose change the dosage.Give your doctor a call and see what he/she say
I be on an anti-depressant called Luvox for just about 10 years and when I went through the adjust I felt equal way. I go to the doctor and am now on an anti-depressant call Cipralex. I still gett weepy at times and still explode in anger, but doesn't everyone catch moody at one time or another? Go to your doctor and tell him your problem. He will know what to do.
