I am unfamiliar beside the ring, but I have be on the Pill for 14 years (7 years high dose and 7 years so far low dose) and it have always be beneficial to me. I currently take Aviane (generic of Alesse). She can try a different brand and strength (low dose) of the pill. Not adjectives of them make you gain cargo. Mine never have.
