I'm 30 years old, my AFP screening read 1 out 74 risk for Down Syndrome. I'm anxious!!?

I received a level 2 ultrasound, the doctor stated that my risk is very soon 1 out 100. I'm still scared! I go for my 35 week check up, now they vote the baby have an irregular heartbeat! Is this common?

Hi...when you have the level 2 ultra-sound did it show any marker for down syndrome; such as a thicker fungal fold, shorter arms and legs, congenital heart defects, or intestinal defect? If not, I wouldn't worry too much nearly it. the only true passageway of finding out if your baby have DS is to have an amnio done. an irregular heart assault can be present for many reason, sometimes it goes away, sometimes not and nearby could be a problem. My son has DS and he also have a congenital heart defect callled av-canal, which is a hole within the chambers of his heart, this cause an irregular hearbeat as well as a screwed up blood flow to the heart. after he be born he was put on lasix and digoxsin until sympathetic heart surgery was preformed at 4 months frail. He is now 3 yrs frail and perfectly fine! I know you are amazingly scared and overwhelmed right very soon, because I have be there....but please try not to be!! If your babe does indeed have DS, you'll be heading down a different track in time than the one you expected to be on, but I have to convey you having a child next to DS is a remarkable experience...I wouldn't change my son for anything.
