Does anyone know if the mirena IUD prevents fertilization or implantation? I am nervous more or less getting one.?

I don't want to get the IUD if it prevents implantation. I'm just not comfortable beside that. I am scheduled to receive the Mirena IUD on March 13th and I haven't be able to find any answers to my ask. I thought that it works like the pill but immediately I'm doubting myself. Any clue??

There is no single explanation of how Mirena works.
Mirena may:
Block sperm from reaching or fertilizing your egg
Make the lining of your uterus tapered (this may also result in benefits resembling less menstrual bleeding over time)
Stop the release of your egg from your ovary (but this may not be the path it works in most cases)

I hold Mirena and love it. I can tell you that I hold not ovulated since getting it. I used to have throbbing ovulation. I no longer have thickset painful period either.

The Mirena works close to all other coils surrounded by the fact it prevents implantation. There are two reason why the implantation wont work. Firstly your body already believes you have something in your uterus ( you enjoy -the coil) and therefore anything else that tries nesting near -ie an embryo will be seen as a foreign body and will be rejected by the body. This is how adjectives coils work. The clever bit of the Mirena is that the actula coil contains progesterone which thins your lining of your uterus to virtually nought. If you have a delicate lining in that is nothing for the embryo to bury itself into thus preventing implantation on this point as resourcefully. The mirena is believed to be as effective as sterilization ie 99.99% sheltered. The Mirena contain the same amount of progesterone as four pills that you nick orally a but its guaranteed for five years (in the uk 8 in switzerland).

The pill is the with the sole purpose method of contraception that I can currently think of that will prevent fertilization (as it stops the egg self relased if taken correctly) except barrier methods.
Im guessing you dont want to enjoy it as you think that you will be destroying a potential babe-in-arms if the egg is fertilized.
