Birth control prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation (the release of an egg by the woman) and sometimes has other effects, such as making a woman's mucous such that it will not accept a man's sperm. The true birth control pill must be taken consistently contained by order to prevent pregnancy - it can't just be taken before sex. It is a prescription that you must remain on day by day. There are other options such as patches, shots, the NuvaRing etc., that work similarly, but aren't necessarily daily option. It shouldn't be used as a true birth control option, but there's also the "morning after pill" which can prevent pregnancy when used within 72 hours of sex. It makes your mucous so that it is much smaller amount likely to accept the sperm. Nothing is 100-percent safe, except abstinence, and it doesn't hurt to use double protection (such as the pill and a condom). And of course, a condom is recommended for intercourse anyway, because it is the only entry that can reduce your risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
Some work by tricking your body into thinking it is already pregnant. That way if an egg does get fertilized it won't implant because your body think there is already a fetus growing. Other forms work to keep eggs from being released.
well it depends some people use it to regalate in that periods and then some use it for sex u have to help yourself to it for a month every day on time for u not to get pregnant
unless you hold the birth controal shot and that goes in your side and you have to own that shot every 3months Source(s): me
It reduces (not prevents) the chance you will become pregnant IF taken correctly.
NO form of birth control or "protection" is 100% effective so no sex unless you own money in the bank to pay your own medical bills (or your own vigour insurance) if you do become pregnant.
If you can't pay, don't play.
