If you have a period (whether it be just the commonplace one or a period from being on the pill) does this definitely expect that you are not pregnant?

You can have your period and be pregnant. I had period during both of my pregnancies.

It's rare but not always especially if the bleeding/period seems unusual. If you hold good reason to think you're pregnant or own other symptoms it's always best just to take a check and see.

my mum have periods all the way through both her pregnancies, she didn't even know she be pregnant with me until she was 6 months gone.

You can still have periods when pregnant although as far as I know, this isn't that common.
