Why shouldn't I bring back a hysterectomy?

I'm in my 40's and have have my 2 kids.
For my whole life I enjoy dealt with horrifically stocky periods.
I've missed work, have have to leave whereever I was - merely basically tied to my house. Horrible cramps and sometimes even throwing up the whole morning to the point where I end up at the ER - near them calling it food poisoning.

So today is as bad as ever - and I'm wondering why don't I just ask for a hysterectomy?

Am I right within thinking that there is no harm if they thieve out the uterus? Hormones come from the ovaries - which I would still have - I just wouldn't hold to deal with the fatty heavy bleeding from the lining?

Has anyone else have an elective hysterectomy for similar reasons?
What's the recovery time...be it outpatient day surgery?

TIA

Answers:    My heavy bleeding be from an extremely thickened uterus and the ablasion treatment doesn't help that. Had mine by compass, left the ovaries, only three small incisions of a partly inch and don't regret it at all. 24 hours in the surgery center, 6 weeks bad work and 2 weeks before could do light walking. You should abide by the no movement guidelines your doctor gives you or you could tear your stitches..
There is a smaller amount invasive procedure that lightens the period by using a 90 second laser treatment called ablation. They do this within the endometrial lining of the uterus and I have hear it works well. Here is just one of the sites that offer a little information. It is at least something to ruminate about =)
http://women.webmd.com/endometrial-ablat... It is the best thing you'll ever do for yourself. If you don't want any more kids that is to say. Get a doctor that can understand and get another belief. Had mine when I was 29 and never looked back. Great article for an unnecessary part that is cause you so much pain. Good luck..
I've had alike surgery. The recovery time varies, depending on respectively individual. My Doctor said it could take 6 weeks to 2 months. It took me exactly 2 mos.I had huge fibroids and heavy bleeding. Go for it, so that you may enjoy go again! I dont see why not! Go for it. Recovery time-about 6 weeks away from work. .
Good luck getting it. Usually the gyno won't do it unless there's a serious reason (fibroids/cancer), but it never hurts or costs anything to ask, right?

I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago - cancer. Mine be radical so they actually have to make an incision rather than steal it vaginally. I needed a good 6-8 weeks to recover. Like in that was this disconnect between my upper and lower halves of my body & I felt as though I have to learn how to coordinate walking again. But if it's taken vaginally I can't help..
i have a total hysterectomy with removal of several fibroid tumors.
the surgery was a breeze. they as you would expect put you to sleep. one night in the hospital. feel kind of crappy for about a week. but consequently felt great. that's the bad member. you feel good and guess you can do things you shouldn't. they told me to be out of work for 4 months. but because I felt so good I go back in 4 weeks. at just about two weeks I was doing yard work. impossible . I took a big chance on ripping internal stitches.
so recovery is pretty express in how you feel , but you own to be very careful what you do somewhat longer.

as far as loss of hormones. its been years and the only effect I own had is hot flashes now and next.
