Why do you hold to hold have one child previously getting Mirena?

I am not sure if I ever want to have kids, but I am sure that I don't want them any time in the subsequent 5 years...so Mirena seems like it would be unfaultable for me, except that to be a candidate for that you have to enjoy had a child already? Why is that??

Answers:    I've had the Paragard IUD for 10+ years presently (it's time to change it).
Some doctors will insert an IUD even if you don't have children. The studies enjoy shown it's safe but this will depend on your doctor.

The thinking is that if you were to lose your fertility, you'd at lowest possible have 1 child and would be satisfied next to at least 1 child.

Rarely, IUD users may experience a pelvic infection within the first three weeks of placement, as the insertion process can introduce germs into the uterus. Although most of the risk of infection with IUDs occurs at the time of insertion, several care providers continue to weigh risk of infection contained by their patients. Mutually monogamous relationships are the best defense against infection. Mayo Clinic.com

Hope this helps
