When should a woman start getting Pap Smears?

I was just wondering when a woman should set off getting Pap smears? Should I have to worry going on for anything, if I haven't had sex yet? I in recent times noticed that several of my friends are getting them, and I was other told that if as long as you are not sexually active, you don't have to verbs about getting one every year? Is that true?

Answers:    They are not necessary. There is no want to have your cervix tested for cancer any more than it is necessary to enjoy your liver or lungs tested for cancer. Pelvic exams are also not necessary. They are more of a cultural demand than a medical one.

There are non-invasive, more accurate, smaller amount humiliating ways of detecting cervical cancer.

I'm sure I will get thumbs down for speaking out, but that's ok. See resources below.

As long as you aren't having sex, you don't have need of to worry about it. My mom only just had me signed up to get one when I go to get a physical, and my doctor said that I did not need one as long as I be not sexually active, so I ended up not getting one. She said that cervical cancer vastly VERY rarely occurs if you hold not had sex. so you do not have to verbs about getting one until you become sexually active. Either at 18 or when you start have sex. Even if you are a virgin, you should have a complete gyno exam. Other things than STDs can go wrong.

BTW, it really isn't discouraging...it is very quick and mostly painless, lately slightly uncomfortable. I had one previously I was active, and I be surprised at how quick and easy it be. Plus, it'll give you peace of mind. And you can talk in the region of birth control BEFORE you have sex, so that you are prepared. Too many girls keep on until after they have become active to amount out how to prevent pregnancy and disease..
I was told that once you start getting your period regularly it's a apt idea to at least progress for an initial Pap smear. But there really isn't anything that needs checking until you become sexually alive. And if you're still a virgin at 18 you should definitely make an appointment near a gyno anyway. You should get a pap at least once a year starting at age 16, no event if you are sexually active or not. I suppose you could wait til you are elder, but I don't think cervical cancer is going to wait for you to own sex or turn 18 to show it's ugly face...not that you enjoy cervical cancer, but wouldn't it stink to find out later!?.
The typical rule of thumb is once per year after you turn 18, or after you lose your virginity, whichever comes first. If you can't afford it, every other year is acceptable, but conspicuously once you start having sex, once a year. when you are sexually active, but it is also a worthy idea to start getting them at the age of 18. Just in satchel you have any abnormal cell then, the doctor can treat you ahead of time..
Yes it is. I didnt have to procure one when I went to my OBGYN because I wasnt sexually active.. Generally by the time you realize 21 whether you have had sex or not you should probably gain a pap smear...just to be on the safe side. :) 16 or when you become sexually helpful... whichever comes first. Even if you don't continue to be sexually active, you should still win them every year... not every problem "down there" is caused by sex..
If you are sexually active, or starting at the age of eighteen. Annually. There's no approach of getting around it. It's not as bad as it sounds, though. Most doctors recommend getting a pap smear once you are sexually active or by 21 save sexually active..
Normally around 18 or when you become sexually active. I started going when I started my term just to make sure everything be ok down there. Im sure everything is fine but I don't know how old you are. I would progress if you have your period. =).
when you start to be sexually helpful. u shud just 2 make sure. im pretty sure u shud gain them once u start ur period. or like a year or 2 after.
No ts not, you should start around sixteen. you dont really call for it unless you had sex to see if you got some quality of desies.
